General Information
Picking up /dropping off - please let me know if someone other than Mum or Dad is going to be picking up your child. Thank you.
School Uniform - please ensure your all your child’s belongings are clearly marked with their name to avoid too many lost jumpers, shoes, lunch tubs etc!
In this variable weather please ensure your child brings waterproof clothing and shoes/boots to school so they can enjoy playing outside. It’s always handy to have a pair of inside shoes/gym shoes too, so that if they get wet feet at playtime, they have something to change into. It would be great if you could leave a pair of gym shoes at school for children to use as spares.
Learning in Primary 1
Read Write Inc is the scheme we are following this year to cover phonics, reading and tools for writing. Most of the children now know most of the sounds we have covered so far this term and we are beginning to blend three letter words in reading and writing.
Numeracy – this term we will continue to focus on Numbers to 20 and beyond, as well as continuing with addition. We will also begin to look at money.
Topic - Our topic this term is Scottish Animals. If you have any knowledge or aspect of your job that involves animals you could share with us, please let me know.
NEWS
We made collected natural materials and left them in water overnight to freeze. We watched them through the day to see if it got warm enough for them to melt. It didn’t! We all made predictions as to whether they would last all weekend or not.
