Primary 6MC

As part of our topic about space, P6MC went down to Dr Lake’s science department to look at the photographs that she took whilst controlling the telescope situated on Hawaii’s Mauna Kea volcano on Monday 19 January. She took the time to answer the children’s questions after showing us the photos.

P6MC thoroughly enjoyed listening and participating in the musical presentation from the Thistle Group who came in today to play their woodwind instruments.

P6MC had a lovely first day back in school after the Christmas holidays. Ms Shenstone took all the pupils outside up to our huge top field to create snow sculptures about their hopes and dreams for 2026. The photos show a small sample of their work and the beautiful outside space and view that we’re so lucky to have here at Pitlochry High School.

P6MC performed their puppet show for the P1s. The children wrote their own scripts and some even made their own puppets. We had sound and lighting engineers too! Posters were created to advertise the show and tickets produced for each child attending. The P1s thoroughly enjoyed the five performances judging by their reactions.

P6MC had a wonderful time handling and working the puppets from our local theatre. Many of these puppets featured in previous productions such as Carousel, Around the World in Eighty Days, The Secret Garden, Wizard of Oz, The Thirty-Nine Steps and Chicago.

P6MC have been taking their maths learning outdoors lead by Mrs Shenstone. They have been consolidating their maths skills of estimating, measuring and looking for angles in the environment. They have been using their social intelligence skills of collaborating, communicating and leading. We were blessed with beautiful weather and a our stunning backdrop of the hills and valley.

Week beginning 1st September. P6MC have been investigating lines of symmetry in a range of 2D shapes. The children worked with a partner and shared their skills of drawing, cutting, shading and writing to explain their work. All pupils met the deadline and were able to have their work displayed on the wall. Well done, P6MC for working together to finish this multi skilled task.

P6MC worked together to make their class charter based on the UN Convention on the Rights of The Child. This links with our school expectations, values, the four capacities and the SHANARRI well being wheel.
